Herbert Colangco, a convicted drug lord and crime leader, currently detained at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) has revealed that former Secretary of Justice and now Senator Leila De Lima, allegedly receives 3 million pesos monthly from Carcel, a group of inmates from both Visayas and Mindanao which Colangco leads.
On his affidavit, Colangco stated that the money given to Sen. De Lima was for them to continue their transactions and illegal activities inside Bilibid.
Colangco added that during De Lima’s tenure, he also sold beers during events for ten times the price which he earned a whopping P3 million for 300 boxes.
The convicted drug lord then exposed that besides De Lima, several members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) were aware of the irregularities inside the NBP.
“Sa tantsya ko po, ang umiikot na halaga ng droga sa loob ng Bilibid sa pagpayag ni secretary De Lima bago pa kami ilipat sa NBI ay hindi bababa sa limampung milyong piso kada buwan,” part of the content of Colangco’s affidavit.
Besides the monthly payola, De Lima allegedly received 5 million which delivered directly to her house at Paranaque, received by Dayan and the senator herself.
Colangco together with other inmates has submitted their sworn affidavits against Sen. Leila De Lima involving her in underground drug trades happening inside the Bilibid. The inmates will then testify before the House of Representatives to possibly shed some light on the drug issues in NBP.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II cleared out that the inmates have agreed to testify, and no talks or anything in exchange for the detainees’ testimony.
Aguirre then added that aside from the high-profile prisoners, NBI agents, and a former NBI director is will also testify against Sen. De Lima.
