On Senate Hearing, Edgar Matobato, a self-proclaimed former member of the Davao Death Squad (DDS) which allegedly being handled by former Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, has stood up to disclose his involvement regarding the vigilante killings which took place in Davao City.
Matobato stated that he came out of his conscience to expose the President involvement with the said killings.
Matobato on oath says that he was a member of the Lambada Boys which is the former name of the DDS hired by the government to eliminate criminals in Davao City.
He said that the killings in Davao City involved some suspects who are innocent but still killed, “Parang manok ang tao sa Davao City pinapatay nang walang dahilan,” Matobato said.
Matobato in August 2014 surrendered to the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), but CHR advised him to seek help from the Department of Justice (DOJ) instead.
Under the Witness Protection Program (WPP), Motabato left after Duterte won the presidential elections and decided to hide before he volunteered to testify at the Senate Hearing.
During his statements on the ongoing Senate Hearing, Senator’s questions credibility of the witness due to inconsistencies.
According to Sen. Ping Lacson, some of Matobato’s statements contradicts the validated reports and among of it are his previous statements regarding the killing of Richard King, Matobato says King died inside a known fast food chain but on the records, the assassination took place inside King’s office.
Furthermore, Senator Cayetano also highlighted the testimonial of Matobato regarding the killing of NBI agent Jamisola.

Cayetano says his will to test the credibility of the story of Motabato due to its statement regarding gunned down by thirty (30) men which make the victim still alive but later finished by former Mayor Duterte consuming two Uzi magazines.
Moreover, Committee Chair Leila De Lima stated that the total of nine (9) witnesses would possibly prove the cases of extrajudicial killing related to the campaign against drugs.
