Philippine-based Team TNC treated early as an underdog now has a guaranteed top 8 seat at the International DOTA 2 Championship 2016 which also assures them of receiving $500,000 or at least 23 Million in peso cash prize.
TNC started strongly by defeating Vici Gaming Reborn on the very first day of the main event and followed by the match against team OG right after MVP Phoenix swept out the tournament favorites to the lower bracket.
TNC has defeated Team OG, the European team who won two-time Major championships and known to be the best team competing at the DOTA 2 International 2016.
The Filipino gamers wiped out Team OG in the lower bracket in a 2-0 win which resulted in their elimination from the tournament with a take home prize money amounting to $300, 000.
Team TNC composed of Carlo “Kuku” Palad, Sam “Sam_H” Hidalgo, Nico “Eyyou” Barcelon, Marc “Raven” Fausto and their lead Jimmy “DeMon” Ho came back to prove a statement after being swept twice during the tournament in Frankfurt and Manila.
Team TNC has advanced to the next round to compete against Digital Chaos which also fought as an underdog but later surprised the crowd by defeating top Chinese team LGD in a 2-0 victory.
TNC proved that an underdog could be a giant killer after they conquered big names at the early rounds of the said tournament. It has been a huge upset for Team OG since they are considered as a top contender at the tournament.
Bagging a spot at the International DOTA 2 Championship means history for team TNC, the farthest any Pinoy team has ever reached an International tournament, and yet the journey is not yet over, the Day 4 of the tournament will determine the winner who will make it to the next round.
