MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III has vetoed a bill that seeks to increase the entry-level salary for the nurses, Thursday on Malacañang.
President Aquino rejected the consolidated Senate Bill No. 2720 and House Bill No. 6411, which seeks the enactment of a comprehensive nursing law. According to the president, the proposed bill will undermine the existing government salary structure and cause wage distortion not only among medical and health care practitioners but also other professionals in the government service.
In a statement, Aquino added that granting such increase will make the salaries of the nurses above other similarly situated counterparts like optometrists and dentists.
OTHER VETOED BILL
The enrolled consolidated House Bill No. 3675 and Senate Bill No. 2518 also rejected by President Aquino, which seeks to eliminate conditions for the condonation of all unpaid income taxes of local water districts.
