On his speech, President Rodrigo Duterte handed over to the AFP the list containing government officials involved in illegal drug trade, September 17, Saturday.
Duterte said that it might be hard for the administration to fight drugs in six months due to the number of public servants involved.
“Sa isang page mayor, assemblyman, mayor, vice mayor. Sa iba naman, barangay captains, puro barangay captain. Boni sultan, Lumati Maasin, municipal councilor, governor, congressman, mayor, barangay captain, nasa gobyerno. How can I build a case na ganito karami? Sabihin ng human rights, ‘You build a case.’ Saan ako maghanap ng pulis na tayo, you are preparing for war,” President Duterte stated during his visit to the Headquarters of the Philippine Army 5th Infantry Division in Isabela.
“I do not know if I will survive the six years or not. Given the numbers, I can’t kill them all. They can perhaps kill me,” He added.
“Ibigay ko ito sa Armed Forces. Ito ang problema natin. I’m just saying that the ultimate warriors of the Constitution, to protect the people is the Armed Forces of the Philippines. So bahala na kayo,” Duterte while addressing the soldiers present at his visit.
Duterte then reminded the troops that he would not allow any member of the PNP or the AFP to go to jail for simply doing their duty. Duterte also told them to work without fear and assured them that he would then be accountable for any of his orders.
On the other hand, PNP Chief Dela Rosa said that fighting drugs in six months was an ambition and that it would be hard to achieve.
Dela Rosa added that he would be happy once they could reduce the drug problem by 70 percent by January.
Duterte together with PNP Chief Dela Rosa teamed up to fight drugs in the country which resulted to 700,000 arrested and 3,000 killed due to police operations.
The administration despite the list of involved personalities asserted to continue its campaign to lower further the rate of drug users and dealers in the country.
