Duterte: Finish Yolanda houses before December
Typhoon Yolanda devastated a significant part of the Visayas particularly Leyte wherein the previous administration of PNoy allotted a budget to build houses for affected families and, Unfortunately, after 3rd anniversary of the tragedy, the Yolanda Housing Projects was failed to accomplish and turn over the houses to the victims.
President Duterte was shocked after knowing that the project was still unfinished and victims are not ready to occupy due to its unavailability of basic utilities. However, Duterte promptly reacted to the situation and gave the order to finish the houses by December.
Duterte ordered Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino to finish it and jokingly told Dino that he might shoot him once the project is not complete by December.
The directive of President Duterte seems unattainable to achieve considering the previous administration was not able to finish it during the past three years, but surprisingly just eighteen days after Duterte’s command, the first batch of victims of Typhoon Yolanda was able to occupy their home at the North Hill Arbours.
The government ensures that the initial problem for the essential utilities such as water and electricity are available which could allow homeowners to enjoy their new house.
The buses that transported the victims will stay for six months to their new location to help those who study and working in the city. The said buses will serve until a new PUV (public utility vehicle) route was established for the relocated families.
